Terry's Thoughts March 2022
Spring is in the air and I, like many of you, certainly welcome the warmer temperatures. With Spring comes an uptick in activity within our churches and within the association. Increased activity involves increased commitment from each of us. In addition to the need for increased commitment from God’s people, there is also a need to move beyond the pandemic. To be sure, there are still some Covid concerns lingering for all of us, and we need to be smart in our dealing with Covid, however, let us not be paralyzed with fear; rather let us be governed by faith as we move forward.
With the increased activity within the association comes an increased need for the Church to pray for His direction, courage, strength, and provision as we all tackle the opportunities presented to the church this time of year. Certainly, our priorities in prayer should be for those who are without a personal relationship with Jesus, but also for a renewed sense of urgency among God’s people. Friends, our world seems to be coming apart at the seams and the only fix is JESUS working through His people to achieve the desired results. If all of this is true (I believe it is) then it begs the question: am I doing my part to accomplish His will and plan for the world and His church? If not, begin now confessing your sin of complacency, repenting of that sin, and returning to His will immediately. Once that confession and repentance is achieved, then ask your pastor, “how can I make a difference in stemming the tide of sin?” I am confident he would welcome that question every day of the week.
My final request for you, as we begin a new season, is to covenant with me to pray daily for the pastorless churches within our association. We currently have ten, that’s right TEN, pastorless churches in need of a shepherd. Those congregations are as follows: Ashleys Grove, Connaritsa, Conway, Jackson, Mt. Tabor, Riverside, Roberts Chapel, Mars Hill, Merry Hill, and Union. In the last couple of years, we have found it next to impossible to connect the right pastors with these churches. For those who have found new shepherds, it has been a very trying journey and one they are not at all anxious to repeat. Please join me in lifting up these churches and their search teams as they attack this very difficult task.
Remember I love you and consider it an honor to serve You!
